Running for Trustee,
Area 1
02 / 06 · The elected role
This is not a job marketing a college. It is elected public leadership for the district that serves our community.
Los Rios describes its Board of Trustees as the district’s governing body, responsible for its educational, physical, and financial well-being—and for setting legal policy. That is the work D’Andrea is running to do.

They help safeguard the district’s educational, physical, and financial well-being.

They listen in open meetings and bring community concerns into public governance.

03 / 06 · Why D’Andrea
A trustee needs to understand what happens between a board decision and a student’s actual day. D’Andrea does.
As an educator, former school administrator, former Dean of Academic Affairs, and Education Programs Consultant with the California Department of Education, D’Andrea has worked across K–12 education, higher education, special education, career preparation, and systems improvement.
Her work supporting foster youth makes the responsibility personal: public systems must be understandable, connected, and accountable to the people who rely on them. That is the perspective she will bring to the board.
My commitment as your trustee
I will ask what a decision means for students, follow how public resources are being used, and make sure the community can see the work behind the vote.
My promise is to bring independent judgment, practical education experience, and a steady focus on outcomes. The board’s work should be clear, responsible, and connected to the everyday realities of students, families, faculty, staff, and working adults across Area 1.
Experience across K–12, higher education, student support, and systems improvement.
A practical understanding of what students and families encounter when public systems are hard to navigate.
A governing approach that links policy, budgets, evidence, and public communication.
Independent questions, clear priorities, and a commitment to show the work behind board decisions.
04 / 06 · Board priorities
From the meeting agenda to the public vote, these are the standards D’Andrea will bring to board work in Los Rios: clear policy, responsible stewardship, visible outcomes, and accountability to the public.
Set clear policy and strategic direction so decisions stay anchored to student success and the public interest.
Ask careful questions about budgets and investments so public resources strengthen programs, access, and student opportunity.
Keep the board focused on whether policies and investments are helping students persist, complete, transfer, and build careers.
Practice transparent governance, review evidence, and make board decisions in view of the communities the district serves.

Student-outcomes scorecard
Trustees do not run day-to-day operations. They do have a responsibility to ask whether the system is delivering results, and whether every student can reach a real next step.
Are students staying enrolled and moving forward?
Are students reaching certificates, degrees, and meaningful milestones?
Are pathways into four-year study clear and attainable?
Are programs connecting learners to real work and upward mobility?
Can every student find the guidance and services needed to succeed?
The trustee lens
The board does not manage a classroom or a campus day to day. Its work is to ask the questions, set the direction, and insist that the district delivers for students, working adults, and families across Area 1.
What will this policy, investment, or decision mean for students and the people who serve them?
Pair fiscal stewardship with clear priorities, transparent decisions, and responsible long-term planning.
Look beyond enrollment to persistence, completion, transfer, career opportunity, and equitable access to support.
Use public meetings, evidence, and clear communication to help community members see how decisions are made.
Listen to students, families, employees, and partners before—and not only after—board decisions.
